We are proud to offer the Lyrical Pre-K Academy @ First Baptist Church-West. Why the name "Lyrical?" Because the definition of lyrical is "relating to music, art and literature." And that's what this program is all about. Below you will find some of the most frequently asked questions about our newest program. OPERATING HOURS & DAYS
We follow the open/close schedule of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, as well as CMS' inclement weather schedule. In short, if CMS is open, we're open. If CMS is closed, we're closed. The only exception is that we will provide a full-day operation on CMS' half-days during the school year.
Instruction is from 9:00am-4pm. Students can be dropped off in the morning 8:30am-9am and picked up 4pm-4:30pm. Before and afterschool also available from 7:30am-9am and 4pm-6pm.

CURRICULUM
We have selected the Curiosity Corner Pre-K Curriculum offered by the Success For All Foundation. We picked this curriculum because it is a comprehensive early childhood curriculum designed to help children at-risk of school failure. It places a special emphasis on children's language and literacy skills, while also helping children develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge for later school success. The curriculum has weekly thematic units that incorporate literacy, math, social studies, culture, etc., and each day children will learn using activities that build on each other.
The Curiosity Corner Curriculum includes:
- A strong focus on oral language and vocabulary development.
- Opportunities for student interaction and partner work
- Integration of socio-emotional skills and strategies
- Strategies to help students thoroughly learn procedures and cooperative learning structures.
- Integration with Sesame Street videos.
ENRICHMENT
We offer music enrichment and art. Most lessons/presentations are 30 to 45 minutes per session. Enrichment also includes daily physical education/play time as well as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) activities.
NUTRITION
Students receive a light breakfast (for those attending before school), a morning snack, a hot lunch and an afternoon snack. We issue monthly menus but parents are welcome to send their own lunches for their children.
COST - NEW THIS YEAR!
Now accepting NC Child Care Vouchers for the 2024-25 school year. Look for "CSA Afterschool & Pre-K." Full and partial scholarships available for families who meet certain income guidelines. Full tutition is $1,070 due by the 5th of every month.
AGE LIMITS
Students must be at least three and six months on their first day of attendance and complete a five-to-ten-day trial period to determine if they're ready to attend Lyrical Pre-K Academy.
ENROLLMENT SIZE
Our maximum enrollment is 34 students.
HOW CAN I ENROLL A CHILD?
Applications will open on July 1, 2024 for the 2024-25 school year. NOTE: Enrollment is not complete until all immunization records and other required materials are received.
